A Year in Projects: CHARLES W. MORGAN LAUNCH

On Labor Day weekend my joint show, with the Dalvero Academy, at the Mystic Seaport came to an end.  The theme was about the history of Mystic and the restoration of the Charles W. Morgan (the last surviving whaling ship). The show had been up for over a year. It was honor to share a show with so many incredible artists and to be part of the seaport’s exhibits.

Watching the ship transform and be rebuilt was an amazing process to see witness. In July, the restoration reached the point where the Morgan could be launched back into the water. Dalvero was invited to witness and draw the event in the VIP section. Here are some drawings from that day.

A small color study.

Holiday Rock Opera

Right before Christmas, my family and I went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. While I didn't bring all of my supplies with me, I couldn't help but draw a little while I was there. Hope everyone had a rocking holiday (ba-dum ching!) and a wonderful new year!  —Christine

Back to Work

First post of the new year, though its been about three weeks since the new year has begun. After a bit of new years reorganization its time to get back to work on my own projects once again!

To start off the new years I decided to share a drawing I have made from my commute on the PATH train to NYC.

Scruffy Train Man

This man was sitting across from me on my train ride home. He looked a little like he belonged working on an old sailing ship. Which is pretty coincidental considering I just finished packing up several prints that will be in a show at the Mystic Seaport later this year!

The Easter Alpacas

I went to my aunt and uncle's for Easter. They live on a small farm in NJ and have been rescuing an odd assortment of animals. This past week they adopted four alpacas, bringing the animal count up to 29. They are certainly strange looking animals... sort of a cross between a sheep and a llama, raised for their high quality wool.

What did the easter alpaca bring you this year?

Unlike the goats and sheep, the alpacas were really curious about you. They came right up to the fence and wanted to know who you were and what you were up to.

Here are couple other drawings from the farm:

Chickens run all around the property, and sometimes following you.

Jack the horse. He was quite upset that I was drawing rather than giving him treats. What is the point of standing next to his stall if you aren't giving him treats?

St. Patrick's Day Parade NYC

I work in midtown, not far from the parade route on 5th Ave. So, I figured on my lunch break to hop over and get a bit of drawing in before heading back to the office.

Queen of Shamrocks?

Also, huzzah for the first post!
